The first week of August signified the last week of Firecracker Sports’ summer schedule, but we would not end the summer on a low note. We held our 4th annual Fire55 and Jr. Fire55 showcases at the beautiful Dunkin Park, home of the Hartford Yardgoats, AA affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. The event was the result of a summer of hard work from players, and 115 of the best from the classes of 2027-2030 that competed this summer at our tournaments and showcase circuit, once again joined us in Hartford.
Players participated in a pro style workout, getting metrics collected on all aspects of their game. From 60 yard dash times to pitching velocities and spin rates, players’ performances were measured throughout the event. They also split into teams and played two games each. TrackMan was on the field for these games, collecting even more data. Games were competitive, high energy, and fun to watch, making the showcase feel like a series of tournament championship games.

The bats are pinging, the sun is finally making an appearance, and the dirt is flying! If you were anywhere near a ballfield in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, or Connecticut
The 2026 season is officially knocking on the dugout door, and if you’re a travel team coach or a parent, you know exactly what that means. It’s time for the “Tournament Scramble.” You’re staring at a calendar, juggling a dozen different websites, and trying to figure out which events are worth your time, your gas money, and your team’s hard-earned sweat.
Choosing the right youth baseball tournaments isn’t just about finding a place to play on a random Saturday in June. It’s about the experience. It’s about the fields, the competition, the scouting, and: let’s be real: making sure the parents don’t lose their minds in a parking lot three hours from home.
The wait is finally over! This past weekend, the crack of the bat and the pop of the mitt returned to fields across the region as the Northeast Baseball
